The Majority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin (MP, Effutu), was sworn-in on Thursday as Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Board by outgoing Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh. A brief swearing in ceremony was held at the Ministry of Energy following his nomination by President Akufo-Addo in accordance with the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992) and regulations of the company.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin was sworn-in alongside his colleague on the majority frontbench and the First Deputy Majority Whip, Habib Iddrisu (MP, Tolon). Dr. Opoku Prempeh charged the new Board Chairman to work assiduously to make ECG a worthy company in the economic growth of the country.
The Effutu Member of Parliament expressed gratitude for his appointment and pledged his commitment to serving the country diligently. Until his appointment, the ECG Board was chaired by Herbert Krapa who has been appointed Minister of State at the Ministry of Energy.
