Latest economic figures for Ghana – January 2021

  1. GDP growth rate for Q3 2020 was -0.4%.
  2. Inflation for 2020 was 10.4%.
  3. Monetary policy rate is 14.5%.
  4. Interbank lending rate was 13.56% as at December 2020.
  5. Average lending rate was 21.1% as at December 2020.
  6. Total Exports for 2020 was US$14.45 billion. Gold Exports US$6.8 billion (47%). Cocoa Exports US$2.34 billion (16%). Oil Exports US$2.9 billion (20%).
  7. Total Imports for 2020 was US$12.4 billion. Oil imports is US$1.9 billion (15%).
  8. Trade surplus for for 2020 was US$2 billion (3% of GDP).
  9. Current account deficit up to September 2020 was US$1.2 billion (1.8% of GDP).
  10. Budget deficit was 10.8% of GDP as at November 2020.
  11. External debt as at November 2020 was GH¢139.6bn (36.2% of GDP).
  12. Domestic debt as at November 2020 was GH¢147.3bn (38.2% of GDP).
  13. Total Public debt as at November 2020 was GH¢286.9bn (74% of GDP).
  14. Non-Performing loans (of banks) as at December 2020 was 14.8%.
  15. Active mobile money accounts were 17.1 million as at December 2020.
  16. Market capitalisation of the GSE was GH¢55.3 billion as at January 2021.
